Little Tummys Gripe Water Review
It a wonder product of little remedies providing safe and active formulae for the health and well being of your infants. They always believe in “less is more” while manufacturing the stuff and struggle that their every product just contains what is required for the fast, effective and early relief. Nothing more than that!
The ingredients of the Little Tummy’s Gripe Water are limited; they usually avoid addition of additives and artificial flavors which may cause side effects and health issues.
The recipe of Little Tummy’s is Sodium (as Sodium Bicarbonate) 15 mg, Ginger Extract (Zingier officinale) (root) 5 mg, Fennel Extract (Funicular vulgare) (seed) 4 mg, purified water, fructose, vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, natural ginger flavor, citric acid, methylparaben and propylparaben.
It should be shaken well before use and can be given to the babies with water or juice. Dose may be repeated after 30 minutes if required. The dosages of certain age groups are:
- Babies 2 to 4 weeks of age 1/2 tsp (2.5 mL)
- Infants 1 to 6 months of age 1 tsp (5 mL)
- Children 6 months and older 2 tsp (10 mL)
- Adults 1 tbsp (30 mL)
It is a highly potent purely herbal supplement which helps ease the gastrointestinal cramps and easy expulsion of gas present in the digestive system thus helping the colic newborns to its fullest. All the ingredients used are very much safe less sodium bicarbonate. That is why it is usually used after 02 weeks of life and not before that. It is also very much effective in relieving hiccups.
Although it is superior to many other gripe waters but still it has few limitations:
- It has a moderate shelf life of six weeks, to be discarded after 6 weeks.
- In some babies allergic reactions are observed.
- Its use should be limited if child has some renal compromise or kidney disease.
- Sodium bicarbonate has its own hazards if used in excess.
So it is always better to consult a pediatrician before giving this or any other health supplement to your child. This may prevent lots of health hazards.
I will say that Little Tummy’s seems to either really works for some or it doesn’t work for other. I suggest you try it yourself to see if it gives you and your family a little peace from a fussy and colicky baby with gas.
