Gripe Water Recipe
Gripe water has a vast variety of ingredients in it, as it is used all over the world. So people all over the world have tried different combinations for making it both at home and commercially.
The very first gripe water formulated by Woodwards contained 3.6% alcohol, dill oil, sodium bicarbonate, sugar and water. However these days alcohol and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is avoided because of their toxicities in infants and newborns.
Recipe for home made gripe water do contain any single type of seed and water surely but other contents may vary according to response of the child and pediatrician recommendation.

Dill Seed Gripe Water
Boil one pint of water with one teaspoon of dill seeds in it, stir it and allow cooling to room temperature. The dosage is 2 ml to 10 ml according to weight of the baby.
This can also be made by using fennel seeds.
All the preparations are to be refrigerated and discarded after 24 hours if not used because they lose their effectiveness.
Optional additional ingredients which can be used are:
- 1 peppermint tea bag;
- 1 ginger tea bag;
- 1 chamomile tea bag;
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Balm;
- 1 Tbsp Blackthorn;
- 1 Tbsp Aloe;
- 1 Tbsp Caraway;
- 1 Tbsp Cardamom;
- Organic Sugar(for taste).
Anise Seed Gripe Water
Boil two cups of water with one tablespoon of anise seeds in it for ten minutes.
Stir the seeds and allow water to cool to room temp.
Give this liquid preparation to the infant with the help of dropper in a dose ranging from 2 ml to 10 ml according to weight of the baby.
